Common Questions
How do I add a recipe?
Tap the add button, enter a recipe title, choose a category, and add photos, ingredients, steps, or notes.
Can I scan recipe photos?
Yes. Add one or more recipe photos, then use Scan Recipe Photos to extract text into ingredients, steps, and notes.
Does My Recipe Shelf sync with iCloud?
Yes. When iCloud is available, your recipes can sync across devices signed in with the same Apple ID.
Can I back up my recipes?
Yes. Use Backup & Restore in the app settings to export a backup file.
Troubleshooting
- Make sure iCloud Drive is enabled if sync is not appearing on another device.
- Keep the app open briefly after adding many photos so iCloud has time to sync.
- If OCR misses text, try using a brighter, clearer photo with the recipe page straightened.
- If a backup import fails, confirm the file has the correct My Recipe Shelf backup format.

My Recipe Shelf is designed for personal recipe organization. Recipe data is stored on your device and may sync using Apple iCloud when enabled. Backup files are controlled by you.
